When Rico Gonzalez experienced first hand, the damaging effects of forgery, he knew that something had to be done to protect the art community from suffering the same costly fate. And so after a lengthy period of research and development with long time friend Gerry Qua and Cris Mora, Art Provenance was born in 2014.
Rico began his career teaching Philosophy at Ateneo de Manila University before becoming a research analyst at Asia Equity, the first foreign-owned investment house in the Philippines. Subsequently, Rico moved to Hong Kong to work at JP Morgan and then Cazenove, eventually leading a team of analysts to cover banks and insurance companies across Asia. In 2004 he joined the entrepreneurial team at Information Gateway, a pioneering mobile content company that grew to become one of the largest players in the sector, where he gained invaluable experience on running enterprises. In 2009, Rico shifted his focus to building the social enterprise sector in the Philippines, and in 2011, founded xchange, a social enterprise incubator. Rico holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy from the Ateneo de Manila University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
